Industrial Heritage Sample Itinerary


 

Arrival Day

 

Arrive in London where you will be met by a Barton Hill Representative who will escort you to your waiting coach for transfer directly to your chosen hotel.

 

This afternoon enjoy a visit to a private collection of vintage machinery and tractors. The owner has many unique objects in his collection and will give a short talk.

 

Welcome Reception and Dinner at the hotel

 

 


 

 

Touring Day

 

Arrive at the Museum of Science & Industry where a one hour tour led by the curator is arranged. The museum includes the Gas Gallery, Power Hall, a large collection of machine tools and vertical beam and horizontal engines, plus much more – as befits the world’s first industrial city

 

Depart for a short visit to the Bridgewater Canal

 

Arrive Bridgewater Canal, considered to be the first ‘true’ canal, designed to link Runcorn and Leigh carrying coal from the mines into Manchester. See the Barton Aqueduct, arguably Europe’s greatest engineering feat when opened in 1761

 

Depart the Bridgewater Canal for a visit to the Anson Engine Museum


Arrive at the Anson Engine Museum where you will be greeted by the curator and enjoy a platter of sandwiches for lunch before taking a tour of the museum

 

Dinner and evening at leisure

Enjoy a full day at Ironbridge which is described as the Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution

 

Spend time visiting the Gorge Museums and Ironbridge itself with your expert Blue Badge Guide before returning to you hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation
